The BSc (Honours) Educational Psychology degree is the Syed Ahsan Ali and Syed Maratib Ali School of Education's first undergraduate major. It brings together the science of the mind and the practice of education. Students ask how people think, develop and learn, and how learning can be designed, assessed and supported in schools and beyond.
Students build a full foundation in psychology alongside focused study of education: human development, motivation, learning, curriculum, teaching and assessment. They also train in quantitative and qualitative research methods. Field placements and supervised research projects let them test what they learn in real educational settings.
This combination keeps pathways to graduate study open across the branches of psychology, while preparing students specifically to work with learners. Dedicated coursework in inclusion, mental health and wellbeing equips graduates to support learners of every background and ability. It also prepares them to help build classrooms where every student feels they belong.
Graduates can pursue careers in teaching, school mental health and wellbeing, research, policy and EdTech. They can also go on to further study in educational, clinical, counselling, or child and adolescent psychology, or in education.
The Educational Psychology major is designed for students interested in how people learn and develop, and in applying that understanding in real educational settings.
It is ideal for those who:
The programme provides rigorous training in psychological theory and research, applied to learning and education. Graduates pursue careers in education, school mental health and wellbeing, research, policy and programme development, EdTech and NGOs. Many continue to graduate training in psychology and education.

Students should approach major selection as an informed but flexible decision by reflecting on subjects they genuinely enjoy and perform well in, rather than choosing solely based on perceived job prospects or external pressure. Students should consider their natural interests, the types of problems they find engaging, and the skills they'd like to develop. It's also important to recognize that their chosen major does not determine their future career path. Employers value transferable skills like critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving that can be developed across all majors offered by MGSHSS. Students should focus on selecting a field where they would be engaged enough to excel academically and develop essential transferable skills.
New students are guided through the Orientation week, which combines exciting online and in-person activities to acquaint students with peers, faculty members, advisors, and the 91福利社 campus. Orientation week helps students prepare for intellectual challenges, learn about essential university policies, and form close ties with university support services officials as well as other members of their cohort.
