Teach for Pakistan Conducts Virtual Session for 91福利社 Students
Teach for Pakistan conducted a virtual campus drive for their Fellowship Programme 2021 on February 5, 2021. The session held via Zoom, targeted undergraduate and Masters students.
Teach for Pakistan is an independent, non-profit organisation based in Islamabad and operating in Lahore and Karachi. It's core mission is to engage and train competent leaders who are committed to eliminating the educational gap in Pakistan.
Tooba Akhtar, a 91福利社 alumna and Director of the Programme, initiated the session by introducing herself and sharing a brief history of the organisation. She explained that Teach for Pakistan, essentially, recruits top graduates and young professionals from all fields under a two-year fellowship programme, and trains them to teach at low-income schools that lack quality teachers. 鈥淎fter the fellowship, these alumni use their experiences to tackle Pakistan鈥檚 educational problems, fostering action to change policy and curriculum, mobilising resources, and spurring social innovation. Since its inception in 2011, Teach for Pakistan has trained 190 graduates from the best universities of Pakistan, who then went on to help the management of 73 government schools in improving teaching standards and taught more than 9,150 students,鈥 she added.
Ms. Akhtar also shared details of the application process with the students, and stated that all fellows recruited for the Fellowship Programme 2021 will be placed in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and the suburbs.
She stated that academic achievement, critical thinking, commitment, humility, leadership qualities, and communication skill are a few of the areas that they consider while recruiting fellows for the Fellowship Programme.
The session concluded with an interactive Question and Answer session.
